Monitor Radiation Levels With Your Geiger Counter
Using the
Geiger Counter
Keep your Geiger counter in your inventory at all times. It displays two critical readings: your personal radiation exposure and the background radiation in your current location. Higher numbers mean more danger.
Reading the Data
1. Check your counter frequently when above ground or in unexplored areas
2. Personal radiation increases when you're exposed to contaminated air without proper protection
3. Background radiation varies by location and altitude—higher elevations are more dangerous
4. Use the counter to identify safe zones underground where radiation is minimal
5. Watch for rapid increases in your personal reading, which signals your
filter is failing
Strategic Decisions
Use your Geiger counter readings to plan routes and timing. If background radiation is extremely high in one area, find an alternate path. If your personal radiation climbs quickly despite wearing a mask, your filter needs replacement immediately. The counter is your early warning system—don't ignore its warnings.
