Understand How Ores Spawn in Different Stone Types

Ore Appearance Changes

World of Stone Mod recolors all ores to match the stone type they spawn inside. This means the same ore (like iron) looks different depending on whether it's embedded in marble, limestone, gabbro, or another rock type.

Finding Ores

1. Mine through different stone layers — you'll see ores with varied appearances

2. Recognize ore types by their core texture — the ore's base identity remains the same, only the surrounding stone color changes

3. Explore deeper for rarer ores in appropriate stone layers

4. Check the Nether and End — the mod adds special ore variants for these dimensions, including ores trapped inside obsidian

Strategic Mining

  • Use ore appearance as a guide to identify which stone layer you're in
  • Target specific depths where valuable ores commonly spawn
  • Collect varied ore samples to see how the same ore looks across different stone types

Visual Identification

While ore colors adapt to their host stone, their distinctive patterns remain recognizable. This makes mining more immersive — you're extracting resources from realistic geological formations rather than uniform vanilla stone.
