Gather Flint and Sticks

Flint is your gateway to early-game progression. Search gravel blocks near water or in riverbeds—flint drops when you break gravel by hand or with tools. You'll need at least one flint.

Sticks come from punching leaves on trees or breaking dead wood with your bare hands. Collect several sticks; you'll need them for the hatchet handle.

Craft the Flint Hatchet

Once you have flint and sticks, open your crafting table. The flint hatchet recipe combines your flint with sticks in the appropriate pattern—check your recipe book or hover over the hatchet icon to see the exact layout.
