Which Fish Can Be Captured

Smaller fish species like Threadfin Lookdowns, Scatfish, Soapfish, and Spadefish can be scooped directly into buckets. These are ideal for building aquariums or decorative water tanks. Locate these fish in ocean and river biomes—they typically school in shallow to mid-depth waters.

Bucket Capture Technique

Equip an empty bucket and approach a target fish. Right-click the fish to scoop it into the bucket. The bucket now contains a single fish and can be carried in your inventory. Transport it to your desired location without the fish despawning.

Setting Up Your Aquarium

Place the bucket of fish into a water-filled tank or container at your destination. Right-click the bucket against the water to release the fish. You can combine multiple species in larger tanks to create diverse displays. These captured fish remain in place and won't despawn, making them perfect for decorative builds or observation tanks.
