Breeding Animals Successfully: Reaching Ecological Score 60
Understanding Ecological Score
Ecological score measures how well-suited your habitat is for the animals living there. Animals will breed slowly or not at all until your enclosure reaches a score above 60. This threshold unlocks full breeding rates and ensures your population grows reliably.
Building the Right Habitat
1. Open the ecology guide by pressing V
2. Find your target animal species and note its habitat requirements
3. Gather the matching natural blocks—grasslands need grass and tall grass, deserts need sandstone and cacti, forests need logs and leaves
4. Place these blocks throughout the enclosure in a natural distribution
5. Monitor the ecological score as you build; it increases as you add appropriate blocks
Maintaining Conditions
Once you reach score 60, keep the habitat stable:
- Place an
auto feeder stocked with appropriate food for your animals' diet - Add water blocks or ensure water access for herbivores
- Don't remove habitat blocks unnecessarily—this lowers the score
- Keep predator and prey species separated to prevent conflict
- Check regularly that food and water supplies don't run empty
With proper habitat maintenance and food supply, your animals will begin breeding consistently and produce offspring with inherited traits from their parents.
