Fixing Bucket Loss for Axolotl and Tadpole Buckets
Affected Mob Buckets
Axolotl Buckets and Tadpole Buckets are among the mob-carrying buckets that were broken by the vanilla bug. When used as a crafting ingredient, they would be destroyed rather than returning an empty Bucket. What The Bucket Mod restores the expected behavior.
How to Use Them Safely
1. Ensure the mod is installed on your client and, for multiplayer, on the server.
2. Catch an Axolotl or Tadpole with an empty Bucket to get the respective bucket item.
3. Use that bucket in any recipe that calls for it.
4. After crafting, retrieve the empty Bucket from the crafting output's remaining items.
5. Reuse the empty Bucket to catch another mob or collect fluid.
Why This Matters
Axolotls and Tadpoles are valuable for farms, breeding, and decoration. Losing the bucket each time you craft with them wastes both the mob and the bucket. With the fix, you keep the empty Bucket and only lose the mob contained inside — which is the correct vanilla-consistent behavior.
Multiplayer Note
If you join a server that has the mod installed, the fix applies to you automatically even if your own client does not have the mod. You do not need to do anything extra. If the server lacks the mod, your buckets will still be lost when crafting.
