How to Tell If Another Player Is Typing in Chat
Watch the Typing Animation
When another player starts composing a chat message, their character plays a typing animation. You do not need to open any menu or press a key to see it — it happens automatically on their model in the world. Keep your camera pointed at the player you want to observe and watch their hands and arms. The motion speeds up as they type faster, so a slow, deliberate typist will show a slower animation than someone hammering out a long message.
Use It to Time Your Own Messages
This is most useful when you are waiting for a reply. If you see someone's typing animation start, hold off on sending another message so you do not interrupt them. If the animation stops and no message appears, they likely cancelled what they were writing. You can also glance at the player list while watching the animation to confirm who is active — an idle player will show a "Zz" symbol next to their name, which means they are not the one typing.
Things to Keep in Mind
The animation reflects chat composition, not every possible text input. It is a visual cue only, so treat it as a hint rather than a guarantee about what someone will send. On a busy server with many players nearby, focus on one character at a time so you do not confuse two overlapping animations.
