Locating a Hullback

Hullbacks spawn in deep ocean biomes, so you'll need to venture far from shore and dive deep. Look for massive shapes moving through the water—they're unmistakable once you spot one. Bring a boat or water-breathing potion to make the search easier, and consider exploring at night when visibility is clearer.

Cleaning and Taming

Once you've found a Hullback, approach it carefully. Equip an Axe and use it to scrape away barnacles and gunk from its body. Switch to Shears to trim away seaweed and algae. The creature won't be hostile, but you'll need to clean multiple sections of its body to fully tame it.

Keep working until the Hullback shows signs of being tamed—typically a change in appearance or behavior. Once tamed, you can now place a Saddle on its back to prepare it for riding and customization.

After saddling your new friend, you're ready to upgrade it into a living ship. Gather wooden planks and begin constructing your vessel.
