Speed vs. Power Trade-off

Weapons Expanded weapons fall into two categories. Fast weapons like the Sickle, Hatchet, and Broadsword let you attack quickly but deal less damage per hit—ideal for hit-and-run tactics and applying status effects rapidly. Slow weapons like the Greatsword, Battleaxe, and Longsword hit much harder but require patience between swings, making them better for tanking and burst damage.

Choosing by Situation

For general exploration and weak mobs: Use a Broadsword or Katana for balanced speed and damage.

For shield-heavy enemies: Pick a Hammer, which can stun shields and break through defensive play.

For maximum single-hit damage: Wield a Greatsword or Battleaxe, but accept the slow attack speed and off-hand restrictions.

For applying status effects: Faster weapons let you stack poison, wither, or frostbite more reliably before enemies escape.

Remember: Greatsword and Katana prevent off-hand use, so plan your loadout accordingly. Test different weapons in low-stakes fights to find what matches your combat rhythm.
