Build a Shield-Based Defense Setup

The Leech Enchantment

Shields in Weapons Expanded can be enchanted with Leech, which heals you whenever you block damage. This creates a self-sustaining defense strategy—the more you block, the more you heal. However, shields with Leech take extra durability damage, so you'll need to repair or replace them more frequently.

Pairing Leech with Weapons

Combine a Leech shield with a Hammer for maximum defensive synergy. The Hammer stuns enemy shields, breaking their defense while your Leech shield keeps you healthy. This works well against armored mobs and players.

Durability Management

Because Leech shields wear faster, carry repair materials or a backup shield. Use Leech shields in prolonged fights where you'll block many hits—the healing output justifies the durability cost. In short skirmishes, a standard shield may be more efficient.

Position yourself to block incoming damage consistently. Leech rewards active blocking over passive tanking, so engage enemies directly rather than hiding. This playstyle is demanding but powerful when executed well.
