Apply Status Effects Effectively in Combat
Understanding the Three Status Effects
Weapons Expanded offers three mutually exclusive melee enchantments: Withering applies the Wither effect for damage-over-time, Frostbite slows enemies and damages them over time, and Polluting adds Poison. Each enchantment cannot be combined with Fire Aspect, so choose one per weapon.
Optimal Strategies
Frostbite works best on fast weapons like the Sickle or Broadsword—the frequent hits keep enemies slowed, preventing escape. This is especially powerful against fast mobs.
Withering pairs well with slower, harder-hitting weapons like the Longsword or Greatsword, since fewer hits still apply significant damage-over-time.
Polluting is effective on mid-speed weapons like the Scythe, balancing application rate with damage output.
For ranged combat, the Freeze enchantment on bows applies Frostbite to arrows—useful for kiting dangerous enemies. Remember: Freeze is incompatible with Flame, so decide whether you want status effects or fire damage.
Combine enchanted weapons with tactical positioning to maximize effect duration before mobs close the distance.
