Place Boxes Directly on the Ground

Cardboard boxes don't require shelves to function. You can place small or large cardboard boxes directly on the ground or on any solid block surface in your base. This gives you flexibility in storage placement without committing to shelf structures.

When to Use Ground Placement

Ground-placed boxes are useful when you want storage in areas where shelves don't fit aesthetically—near your crafting area, by your furnaces, or in temporary storage zones. They're also practical for mobile storage if you're still building your base and moving items frequently.

Access Your Items

Right-click on any ground-placed cardboard box to open its inventory. The box will hold the same number of items as it would on a shelf, so storage capacity doesn't change based on placement.

Mix Storage Methods

Combine shelves and ground boxes in your storage room for a flexible system. Use shelves for your main organized storage and ground boxes for quick-access or overflow storage. This hybrid approach lets you adapt your storage to your base's layout and your playstyle.
