How to Open and Use the Pixel Grid Editor in WalksyLib
The pixel grid editor is WalksyLib's tool for creating custom pixel art and animated visuals that other mods can use as config sprites or textures. You reach it through any config option that accepts a sprite or texture input.
Opening the Editor
Find a config screen from a mod that uses WalksyLib and look for an option labeled as a sprite, texture, or pixel input. Clicking that option opens the grid editor instead of a plain text field. If a mod exposes its own sprite picker, the editor is what appears behind it.
Drawing Your Sprite
- Click individual cells to toggle a pixel on or off, or drag across the grid to paint multiple pixels at once.
- Use the color selector to set the active color before painting; each pixel keeps the color you assigned it.
- Switch between frames if the editor exposes an animation timeline, then draw each frame separately to build an animated visual.
- Save or confirm when finished so the sprite is written back into the config option that opened the editor.
Because WalksyLib serializes config data, your finished sprite is stored with the rest of the config and reloads with it. If the art looks wrong after reopening, re-enter the editor and check that every frame was saved, not just the one you were viewing.
