Break Down a High-Value Coin into Smaller Change

When You Need Smaller Denominations

Sometimes you'll have a Gold coin but need Iron or Copper to trade with lower-level villagers, or you simply want to split your wealth into smaller units.

Use the Crafting Table

1. Open your crafting table

2. Place a single Gold coin (or any higher-tier coin) in the crafting grid

3. Collect the 100 coins of the next-lower tier from the output

For example, one Gold coin breaks down into 100 Iron coins. One Iron coin breaks down into 100 Copper coins. This works in reverse of the upgrade system—place 99 or fewer coins to trigger the breakdown instead of an upgrade.

Pro Tip

Keep a small supply of Copper and Iron coins on hand for quick trades with beginner and mid-level villagers. Breaking down larger coins as needed is faster than farming mobs for small denominations.
