Using the Crafted Bell to Trigger Villager Panic and Raid Mechanics

What Ringing the Bell Does

A bell crafted with this mod behaves identically to a naturally generated village bell. When you ring it, villagers within range enter a panic state and run toward their homes or a nearby meeting point. This is useful for clearing villagers out of an area, gathering them for breeding, or defending against a raid. During a raid, ringing the bell causes all villagers in range to flee indoors, which can save them from pillagers.

Practical Uses

  • Raid defense: Ring the bell as soon as a raid starts so villagers hide and stop wandering into danger.
  • Villager herding: Ring repeatedly to push villagers toward a specific building or pen.
  • Testing redstone: Bells can be rung by redstone pulses, so you can wire one up to a lever or pressure plate for automated alerts.

Placement Tips

Place the bell on a block at head height or higher so it is easy to right-click. In a raid, position it near the center of your village so the panic radius covers the most villagers. If you have multiple bells, space them out — each one only affects villagers within its own range.
