How to Use Instruction Kits to Choose Your Machine Type

The Four Machine Classes

Instruction Kits come in four colored variants: Instruction Kit (Ground), Instruction Kit (Flying), Instruction Kit (Hauler), and Instruction Kit (Sea). Each one determines the movement behavior, speed profile, and cargo capacity of the machine you build. Ground machines roll along terrain. Flying machines lift off and hover. Haulers carry large inventories but move slowly. Sea machines travel across water.

Applying an Instruction Kit

Place a Machine Chassis, then right-click it while holding the Instruction Kit of your choice. The chassis consumes the kit and becomes a complete basic machine of that type. You cannot change the type afterward without dismantling the machine first using a Dismounter. Choose carefully — if you want a flying cargo ship, build a Flying machine and add storage via upgrades rather than using a Hauler kit.

Upgrading After Construction

Once built, you can install Lesser Machine Upgrade items to improve specific traits like speed or capacity. These upgrades stack with the base type but do not change it. For example, a Flying machine with a Lesser Machine Upgrade remains a flyer but gains a stat boost. Admin-only Complete machines exist for creative testing and bypass the construction process entirely.
