Fix a Ship That Won't Float or Fly Properly

Diagnose the Problem

If your ship sinks immediately or won't lift, the issue is usually weight distribution or block choice. Water vessels need enough buoyant blocks to displace their total weight. Airships need to be lightweight overall.

Adjust Block Composition

Disassemble your vessel using the mod interface. Replace heavy blocks (stone, metal) with lighter alternatives (wood, wool, concrete). For water ships, add more hollow space or use blocks designed to provide buoyancy. For airships, minimize dense materials entirely.

Check Structure Integrity

Ensure all blocks are properly connected with no internal gaps or floating pieces. Disconnected sections won't be included in the vessel and can cause imbalance. Rebuild any separated areas.

Reassemble and Test

Reassemble the modified structure. Board it and test movement in a safe area. If it still behaves poorly, make incremental changes—swap a few blocks at a time rather than redesigning everything. This helps you identify which changes actually improve performance.

Use the Align Feature

The mod's Align button can help stabilize a tilted or spinning ship, correcting orientation issues.
