How to Use the Dimmable Redstone Lamp
What It Does
The
Dimmable Redstone Lamp is a redstone-controllable light source. Instead of being simply on or off, its brightness scales with the strength of the redstone signal it receives. A weak signal produces a dim glow; a full-strength signal produces maximum light.
Setting It Up
1. Place the lamp where you want variable lighting.
2. Run redstone dust, a comparator, or an analog source (like a daylight sensor or weighted pressure plate) into it.
3. Adjust the signal strength — for example, by changing comparator mode or the distance the signal travels — to tune brightness.
Uses
- Build a lamp that gradually brightens as the sun sets by feeding it a daylight sensor through a comparator.
- Create mood lighting in a base by wiring several lamps to different signal strengths.
- Use it as a visual redstone indicator: the lamp's glow tells you the exact signal level at a glance, which is handy when debugging circuits.
Notes
Because brightness follows signal strength, a lamp fed by a lever will behave like a normal lamp (full on or off). Feed it analog signals to get the dimming effect.
