How to Move Fluids Automatically with the Fluid Hopper

The Fluid Hopper transfers fluids between containers the same way a vanilla hopper moves items, letting you automate tanks, drains, and processing setups.

Basic Setup

Place the Fluid Hopper so its input faces the fluid source you want to drain and its output faces the destination. Point it at a tank, cauldron, or another fluid container and it will pull fluid from above/side and push it out the facing direction, matching vanilla hopper orientation rules.

Common Uses

  • Drain water from a pool into a storage tank without manual bucketing.
  • Feed fluids into a machine that expects a constant supply.
  • Chain multiple Fluid Hoppers to move fluid long distances across a base.
  • Collect fluid output from a farm or mob setup and route it to a central tank.

Things to Watch

Fluid Hoppers only move fluids, not items, so pair them with a regular hopper if your setup produces both. Make sure the receiving container actually accepts the fluid type, or the hopper will stall. If flow stops, check that the output side is not blocked and that the destination has room. Redstone control works like a normal hopper, so you can disable one with a redstone signal when you want to pause transfer.
