Troubleshoot Low FPS or Missing Details

Common Performance Issues

If you're experiencing lag or textures look flat:

Flat textures with no depth? You're missing a shader. Install one like BSL and enable it in Options → Shaders. PBR effects only work with shader support.

Low FPS despite good hardware? Your resolution is too high. Switch to a lower tier (512x → 256x) and test again. Each step down significantly reduces VRAM usage.

Checking Your Setup

1. Verify Optifine is installed and active

2. Confirm your shader is loaded (check the pause menu—it should display the shader name)

3. Ensure you're using the correct resource pack file for your chosen resolution

Quick Fixes

  • Disable advanced shader features (reflections, shadows) temporarily to isolate the problem
  • Allocate more RAM to Minecraft (at least 4GB recommended)
  • Update your GPU drivers
  • Close background applications consuming VRAM

If issues persist after these steps, verify your GPU meets minimum requirements for your chosen resolution.
