Navigating Connected Underground Passages
Understanding the Network
UnderMod's underground biomes are linked together—sewers connect to underground rivers, which lead to forests and craters. This means you can travel between distant surface locations by moving through the caves below.
Safe Travel Tips
- Mark intersections: Use torches or blocks to indicate which passages you've explored
- Follow water flow: Underground rivers provide natural highways and often lead to new areas
- Bring a boat: Rivers allow fast, relatively safe travel compared to walking through hostile tunnels
- Map mentally: Note which biome you're in (sewer, forest, river) to avoid getting lost
- Set waypoints: Place distinctive marker blocks at major junctions
Returning to Surface
If you find a sinkhole in an underground forest, you can climb back toward the surface. Otherwise, retrace your marked path or dig upward carefully to avoid falling into unexpected cavities.
