Finding and Entering Ancient Sewers

Locating Sewer Entrances

Ancient Sewers spawn beneath villages, so your first step is finding a village on the surface. Once you've located one, explore around the buildings and streets—sewer entrances are small, easy to miss openings that lead downward into the underground.

Preparing for Entry

Before descending, bring:

• A pickaxe (stone or better) to mine through obstacles
• Torches or another light source—sewers are dark
• Food and healing items
• A sword for combat
• Blocks for building emergency exits

Sewers contain poisonous water, hostile mobs like slimes and bandits, and tight passages. The poisonous water will damage you, so avoid prolonged contact. Once inside, place torches along your path to mark your route back to the surface. The tunnels connect to other underground areas, so you may find yourself traveling deeper than expected.
