How Variant Generation Works

When an ore is registered with the Underground Biomes Constructs Ore Registrar, it doesn't just create one variant. The system automatically generates versions for each Underground Biomes stone type present in the world. A single Copper Ore becomes Gneiss Copper, Basalt Copper, Soapstone Copper, and more.

Natural Distribution

Each variant generates in its corresponding UBC stone layer. As you explore different Underground Biomes regions, you'll encounter the same ore in different stone contexts, creating visual variety while maintaining ore availability.

Finding Variants

To locate different ore variants:

1. Explore multiple Underground Biomes regions

2. Dig at different depths where different stone types appear

3. Note that each variant has the same properties and uses as the base ore

4. Collect variants for building or decorative purposes

All variants are functionally identical—they smelt and craft the same way. The difference is purely aesthetic, making your mining experience feel more integrated with the Underground Biomes world.
