Troubleshooting: Scroll Shows No Data or Wrong Building
Common Symptoms
Scrolls are simple tools, but a few things can make them appear broken: the scroll shows an empty inventory, it shows the wrong building's contents, or right-clicking does nothing at all. Almost always the cause is a binding issue or an unloaded chunk, not a bug.
Fixing Empty or Wrong Data
1. Check the binding. Sneak-right-click the scroll to clear its current binding, then right-click the correct building block while holding it.
2. Confirm you are targeting the right block. For a hut, right-click the hut block itself, not a chest inside it, unless the mod's tooltip tells you otherwise.
3. Make sure the target chunk is loaded. MineColonies buildings only report contents when their chunk is loaded — if you are far away and the colony is not force-loaded, the scroll may show nothing.
4. Verify the building actually has items. An empty warehouse legitimately shows an empty list.
5. If the scroll was copied from another player's scroll, its binding may point at a building you do not have permission to view. Ask the colony owner to grant access or bind your own scroll.
When Right-Click Does Nothing
- Make sure you are not sneaking — sneak-right-click is the unbind action, so it will not open the interface.
- Confirm the scroll is in your main hand, not the off hand, if your version requires main-hand use.
- Try a different scroll of the same type to rule out a corrupted item; if a fresh scroll works, discard the broken one.
