How to Choose the Right Color Scroll for Your Colony

Why Colors Exist

Every Inventory Scroll and Resource Scroll in this mod comes in sixteen dye colors plus the default uncolored version. Functionally, all colors behave identically — the color is purely a labeling system. The point is to let you build a visual filing system so that when you open a chest full of scrolls, you instantly know which one is which without reading tooltips.

Building a Color System

1. Decide on a scheme before you start binding. Common approaches: one color per building type (e.g. all farms green, all mines gray), or one color per district/quadrant of your colony.

2. Craft or dye blank scrolls in the colors you need. The mod provides a pre-colored scroll for each dye, so you can craft the exact color directly rather than dyeing a plain one.

3. Bind each scroll to its target building or warehouse.

4. Store scrolls in a labeled chest or a MineColonies warehouse rack near your town hall or player home.

5. Optionally, use a Copy Scroll to duplicate frequently used bindings so multiple players can carry the same color.

Practical Tips

  • Reserve one color (e.g. black) exclusively for your main warehouse Resource Scroll — it will be the one you check most often.
  • Keep a small sign or item frame next to your scroll chest listing which color maps to which building.
  • If you re-purpose a building, rebind its scroll rather than crafting a new one — sneak-right-click to clear the old binding first.
