Where to Find Smithing Templates for Tool Trims

Vanilla Template Sources

Trimmable Tools uses the same smithing templates that vanilla Minecraft adds for armor trims. That means you get them the same way you always have:

  • Ocean monuments and elder guardian drops for the Tide pattern.
  • Pillager outposts and woodland mansions for Sentry, Vex, and Wild patterns.
  • Desert temples, jungle temples, igloo chests, and shipwrecks for various patterns.
  • Bastion remnants and Nether fortresses for Nether-themed patterns.
  • End cities and strongholds for End and Eye patterns.
  • Trail ruins for the Wayfinder, Raiser, Shaper, and Host patterns.

Duplicating Templates

Once you have one copy of a template, you can duplicate it at a Smithing Table using the template, a matching material block (like a block of the trim material the template is themed around), and typically a diamond or another ingredient depending on the pattern. This lets you trim many tools without hunting down more structures.

Practical Advice

  • Store templates in a dedicated chest near your Smithing Table so you can trim on a whim.
  • If you only care about looks, the cheapest trim materials (like copper or redstone) still give a full visual effect.
  • Remember that the template is consumed when you apply it, so duplicate before you run out.
