How to Trim Your Tools and Weapons at a Smithing Table
What You Need
Trimming a tool works almost exactly like trimming armor in vanilla Minecraft. You need three things at the Smithing Table: a smithing template (the trim pattern you want), the tool or weapon you want to decorate, and a trim material (the metal or gem that colors the pattern).
Step-by-Step
1. Place a Smithing Table and right-click it to open the interface.
2. Put your smithing template in the leftmost slot.
3. Put the tool or weapon you want to trim in the middle slot.
4. Put your chosen trim material in the rightmost slot.
5. The output slot will show your tool with the trim applied. Drag it out to finish.
The trim is purely cosmetic — it does not change durability, damage, mining speed, or enchantments. Your tool keeps everything it already had. You can trim any tool or weapon the mod supports, including swords, pickaxes, axes, shovels, and hoes.
Tips
- Trims are applied instantly and consume the template and material.
- If the output slot stays empty, double-check that your template matches a valid armor trim pattern and that your material is a recognized trim material (like gold, iron, diamond, netherite, redstone, lapis, amethyst, emerald, quartz, or copper).
- You can re-trim a tool later to change its look, but the old trim is lost.
