How to Grow and Farm Autumnal Saplings in Traverse

The red, orange, yellow, and brown autumnal leaves and saplings are some of Traverse's most distinctive features. Farming them lets you decorate builds with seasonal color year-round.

Getting Saplings

Break autumnal leaves by hand or with any tool. Like vanilla leaves, they have a chance to drop a sapling of the matching color. The color of the sapling matches the color of the leaves you broke, so if you want red saplings, harvest red autumnal leaves. Collect several of each color before you leave the biome.

Planting and Growing

Plant saplings on dirt, grass, or podzol. Give them space, since autumnal trees need room to grow like any tree. You can speed growth with bone meal. Once grown, the tree produces leaves of its matching color, which you can harvest for more saplings and for decorative leaf blocks.

Using the Leaves

Autumnal leaves are great for building. Use them to create seasonal builds, hedge rows, or accent foliage around a base. Because there are four colors, you can mix them for a gradient effect on a large tree or wall.

Farming Loop

Set up a small grove: plant one tree of each color, harvest leaves periodically, and replant dropped saplings. This gives you a steady supply of all four leaf colors without returning to the wild biome. Keep a bone meal farm nearby to speed things up.
