How to Bind a Location to the Traveler's Compass

The Traveler's Compass does nothing useful until you tell it where to point. Binding a target is the first thing every player needs to learn.

Steps to bind a target

1. Hold the Traveler's Compass in your hand.

2. Right-click (or use the item's use key) to open its selection interface. This is where you choose what the compass should track.

3. Pick the type of target you want. The compass can point toward a specific structure or biome type, or toward a coordinate you set yourself.

4. If you chose a structure or biome, scroll or click through the list until you find the one you want, then confirm.

5. If you chose custom coordinates, type in the X and Z values of your destination and confirm.

What happens after binding

Once bound, the compass needle will rotate to point toward your chosen target whenever you hold it. The needle updates as you move, so it always shows the direction relative to where you are standing.

If you want to change the target later, just open the interface again and pick something new. You do not need a fresh compass — the same item can be rebound as many times as you like.
