Finding Structures and Biomes with the Traveler's Compass
One of the main uses of the Traveler's Compass is locating structures and biomes without wandering aimlessly. Here is how to actually get value out of that feature.
Choosing a target
Open the compass interface and select the structure or biome category. You will see a list of options the mod supports. Pick the one you are hunting for — for example a specific village type, a temple, or a biome you need for resources.
Reading the compass while travelling
- Hold the compass in your main hand so the needle is visible.
- Walk in the direction the needle points. The needle tracks your position continuously, so keep checking it as you cross terrain.
- If the needle swings sharply behind you, you have overshot — turn around.
- The compass points in a straight line, not along paths, so you may need to route around oceans, mountains, or ravines yourself.
Practical tips
- Bind your target before leaving your base so you do not lose your starting point.
- Bring food and blocks for bridging, since the straight-line direction often crosses water or cliffs.
- If you reach the area and still cannot find the structure, widen your search in a spiral around the spot the compass indicates.
