Find What Tool You Need for a Specific Block

Quick Method

1. Look at the block you want to harvest

2. Hover over it with Waila/Hwyla enabled

3. Read the tooltip—it will state the required tool class and harvest level

4. Check your current tool's tooltip to see if it meets the requirement

If You Don't Have the Right Tool

1. Identify the tool class needed (pickaxe, axe, shovel, or paxel)

2. Find or craft a tool of that class with sufficient harvest level

3. Return and attempt to harvest the block

4. The block will drop only if both the tool class and harvest level match

Example

Redstone ore requires a pickaxe with harvest level 2. If you only have a stone pickaxe (level 1), it won't drop. You need to upgrade to iron or better. The Waila tooltip will tell you exactly what's missing, removing guesswork from progression.
