Control a Lectern and Read Page Information
Lectern Serial Interface Basics
The Lectern Serial Interface lets your TIS-3D computer read which page a player is viewing and even change the page programmatically. This is useful for creating interactive displays or automated book systems.
Setup
1. Place a Lectern adjacent to your TIS-3D computer.
2. Install a Serial Interface module and connect it to the lectern.
3. Place a written book in the lectern.
Reading and Writing Page Data
- Read current page: Query the interface to get the page number the lectern is currently displaying.
- Read total pages: Determine how many pages the book contains.
- Set page number: Write a page number to the interface to change which page is displayed.
Practical Applications
- Create interactive menus where players navigate using TIS-3D logic
- Display different information based on system state
- Build automated tutorials or guided experiences
- Synchronize lectern displays across multiple locations
- Track player progress through multi-page books
This opens up creative possibilities for combining TIS-3D automation with readable in-game content.
