Detect Signal Changes with Edge Detector

How Edge Detector Works

The Edge Detector outputs a single redstone pulse when it detects a change in signal state. It can detect either a rising edge (signal turning on) or falling edge (signal turning off). Right-click to toggle which edge type you want to detect.

Setup Steps

1. Place an Edge Detector on your panel.

2. Right-click it to choose your detection mode: rising edge (signal starts) or falling edge (signal stops).

3. Connect your signal source to the back input.

4. Connect the front output to your target device.

5. The Edge Detector will fire a pulse only when the specified transition occurs.

Practical Applications

Use rising edge detection to trigger something when a button is first pressed. Use falling edge detection to trigger something when a button is released. This is useful for creating one-time events from continuous signals, or for detecting when a player enters or leaves a sensor range. Edge Detectors are essential for converting long signals into short, precise pulses.
