How to Deconstruct Tools and Recover Tool Parts

Breaking Down Finished Tools

If you've crafted a tool you no longer need or want to recycle its parts, deconstruction lets you recover the base components without loss.

Steps to Deconstruct

1. Craft or obtain a completed tool (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc.)

2. Open a Tool Station or Tool Forge

3. Place the finished tool into the output slot

4. The tool will break down into its constituent parts: blade, handle, guard, and other components

5. Collect the recovered parts from the inventory

What You Get Back

You'll recover the base tool parts made from their original materials (Alumite, steel, wood, etc.). Modifiers applied to the tool are lost during deconstruction, so this is ideal for salvaging tools with unwanted trait combinations or freeing up materials for new builds. This mechanic is especially useful when experimenting with different tool configurations without wasting valuable materials.
