Enter the Backrooms for Your First Run

Getting In

To access the Backrooms, you need to trigger suffocation inside a solid block. Find any full block—stone, dirt, wood—and position yourself so your head is inside it. You'll begin to suffocate. After a few seconds of damage, you'll clip through and spawn in the yellow corridors.

Alternatively, have another player push you into a block using a piston. This works just as well and can be faster if you're playing in a group.

What to Expect

You'll arrive in randomly generated rooms with yellow walls and eerie lighting. A five-minute timer starts immediately. Nearby players within sixteen blocks automatically form a squad, so you'll see their names and can coordinate.

Grab a Temporal Compass from your inventory or find one in loot containers—this item points you toward the nearest exit portal room. Search every chest and container you find for gear, weapons, and modded items to prepare for the escape.

Getting Out

Locate the exit portal using your compass and reach it before time runs out. Walking through brings you and all your collected items safely back to the Overworld.
