Stop Silver Blocks from Tarnishing
Preserve Your Silver Build
Silver blocks naturally tarnish over time, progressing through darker oxidation stages. If you want to keep your silver structures looking fresh and shiny, you'll need to apply wax.
How to Wax Silver Blocks
Gather honeycomb from bee nests or hives. You can find these in forests or breed bees yourself. Once you have honeycomb in your inventory, use it on any tarnished or untarnished silver block by right-clicking.
The wax coating will lock the block in its current state, preventing further oxidation. This works on all silver block variants, including
cut silver, grates, bulbs, doors, and trapdoors.
Tips
- Wax blocks early if you prefer the bright, polished look
- You can wax blocks at any oxidation stage—the block won't change further
- If you want to remove wax and let oxidation resume, use an axe to scrape it off
- Plan your color scheme: mix waxed and unwaxed blocks for a weathered aesthetic, or keep everything pristine
