Find and Mine Silver Ore Efficiently

Locate Silver Deposits

Silver ore spawns underground in two forms: regular silver ore in stone and deepslate silver ore in deepslate. Both require an iron pickaxe or better to mine.

Where to Search

Silver ore generates at various depths, but you'll have the best luck exploring:

• Underground caves and caverns
• Deep mining tunnels below Y-level 0
• Deepslate layers in the deep dark and ancient cities

Mine silver ore with an iron, diamond, or netherite pickaxe to collect raw silver. Smelt or blast the raw silver in a furnace or blast furnace to get silver ingots.

Additional Sources

• Dungeon chests contain silver loot, including ingots and sometimes finished items
• Silverfish mobs drop silver nuggets when defeated—nine nuggets craft into one ingot
• Ancient city loot often includes silver materials

Tips

• Bring a pickaxe with Efficiency and Unbreaking for faster mining
• Use strip mining or cave exploration depending on your preference
• Mark silver veins with torches to return later if your inventory fills up
