Set Up a Lead Ore Mining Operation

Finding Lead Ore

Lead ore spawns throughout the Overworld in underground caves, but your best yields come from swamp biomes. Dig down to cave level (Y: 0–64) and search swamp terrain first—you'll find the largest mineral veins there. Look for the distinctive lead ore blocks among deepslate and stone.

Mining and Processing

Mine lead ore with a stone pickaxe or better. Collect the raw lead drops and bring them to a furnace or smelter. Smelt raw lead into lead ingots—these are your crafting base for all lead tools, armor, weights, and decorative blocks.

If you have Create mod installed, crush lead ore in Crushing Wheels for extra yield, then press ingots into lead sheets for advanced recipes.

Storage and Safety

Store ingots in chests near your mining site or main base. Be aware: mining lead ore releases toxic lead fumes that cause lead sickness. Work in short bursts, retreat to fresh air, or wear a helmet for partial protection. Consider setting up a dedicated smelting area away from your living quarters to contain fume exposure.
