Set up a one-way minecart system with copper rails
Understanding directional placement
Copper rails push minecarts in only one direction, determined by where you stood when placing the rail. The rail's pattern visually indicates which way it will push—observe the copper texture to confirm the direction before powering.
Building your one-way track
1. Decide which direction you want minecarts to travel
2. Stand at the *destination end* of your track and place copper rails in a line toward where minecarts will enter
3. This ensures the rails push minecarts away from you—toward your intended direction
4. Connect a redstone power source (redstone wire, lever, or button) to the copper rails
5. Test with an empty minecart: it should only move in your chosen direction
Important notes
Unlike powered rails, copper rails don't need an adjacent block to function—they push minecarts purely from redstone power. However, they won't share redstone signals with golden rails or other rail types, so power them independently. If a rail seems unpowered, it will behave like a regular golden rail and won't push anything.
