Prepare Your Base for Volcanic Eruptions

Identify Volcanic Zones

Locate active volcanoes in your world by looking for tall mountain peaks with lava patches and hot springs nearby. These are danger zones—eruptions can occur without warning and send lava bombs across large distances.

Build Protective Structures

Construct your base at least several hundred blocks away from known volcanic peaks. If you must build closer, create a defensive perimeter using non-flammable blocks like stone, obsidian, or deepslate. Roof over wooden structures and keep flammable materials away from exposed areas.

Build trenches or moats around your base to redirect lava flows. Position them to channel lava away from your buildings and toward safe containment areas.

Monitor Tremors

Pay attention to ground tremors—they often precede major eruptions. When you feel the world shaking, move to shelter immediately. Stock your base with water buckets to extinguish unexpected lava intrusions.

Prepare Escape Routes

Always maintain clear pathways leading away from your base toward higher ground or pre-built safe zones. Keep a bed in a secure location far from volcanic activity so you can respawn safely if disaster strikes.
