How to Fix Biome Conflicts and Overlapping Regions with TerraBlender
Understanding Why Conflicts Happen
TerraBlender works by letting multiple biome mods register their own *regions* — large climate zones that decide which biomes can appear where. When two or more biome mods both inject regions into the overworld, their regions can overlap or compete for the same climate space, which produces patchy, repetitive, or missing biomes. This is not a bug in TerraBlender itself; it is a configuration problem between the mods you installed.
Steps to Resolve Overlaps
1. Identify which mods add biomes by checking your mod list against each mod's documentation.
2. Open the config folder and look for files named after each biome mod (TerraBlender itself usually has little to configure — the biome mods own the region weights).
3. In each biome mod's config, look for region *weight*, *priority*, or *enabled* options. Lowering a weight reduces how much map space that mod's region claims.
4. If a mod lets you disable specific regions, turn off regions that duplicate another mod's theme (for example, two separate "tropical" regions).
5. Regenerate a test world with the same seed after each change so you can compare results.
Verifying the Result
Fly or teleport across a large area and watch for smooth transitions between biome groups. If one biome type dominates, reduce that mod's region weight further. Keep notes on which settings you changed so you can revert if a mod updates and resets its config.
