How to Store and Move Energy with Battery Boxes and Storage Units
Battery Box Basics
The Battery Box stores EU and acts as a buffer between generators and machines. Place it between your power source and your machine line. It accepts input from any side and outputs to connected cables. This prevents machines from stalling when generators briefly stop.
Storage Units
Basic Storage Units hold items, while Advanced Storage Units hold far more. Tank Units store fluids. Use these to buffer resources between processing steps — for example, hold smelted ingots before they go into an assembler.
Portable Power
Craft batteries to carry EU with you. Charge them in a battery box or
generator, then use them to power handheld tools or to jump-start a machine far from your base. Higher-tier batteries hold more EU and can discharge faster.
Managing Voltage
Every machine has a voltage tier (LV, MV, HV, etc.). Feeding a machine more than its rated voltage destroys it. Use transformers or an
Adjustable SU to step voltage up or down between tiers. Always check the machine's tooltip before connecting it to a new power source. If you are unsure, start with the lowest tier and upgrade gradually as your infrastructure grows.
