Build Your First Brawler Setup

Gather Your Gear

Start by crafting or finding a complete Ruffian armor set. This armor is essential for brawler combat—it provides the defensive stats you need when fighting at close range. Pair it with a set of Gauntlets, the mod's fist-fighting weapon.

Equip and Test

Once you have both pieces, equip the full Ruffian armor set and the Gauntlets in your main hand. Stand near a mob and begin attacking. You'll notice your Grit meter starting to build during combat. Each hit generates Grit slowly over time—you gain one point roughly every 8 seconds, up to a maximum of two points.

Understand Your Passive

Your Gauntlets give you a passive damage boost whenever you hit an enemy while holding Grit. This means waiting for Grit to accumulate before engaging tougher mobs will reward you with stronger punches. The longer you hold Grit without spending it, the more damage your next hit deals.

Practice this basic rhythm: build Grit, spend it on a strong hit, then build again. This foundation prepares you for using special abilities.
