How to Change How Long TalkBubbles Stay on Screen

Where the Timing Lives

TalkBubbles keeps a config file that controls how long a bubble lingers after a chat message is sent. The exact option name and default value depend on your installed version, so open the config file (usually found in your Minecraft config folder after the mod has run once) and look for entries mentioning bubble duration, lifetime, or display time. Do not guess a number — read the value that is already there and adjust it relative to that.

Adjusting the Duration

1. Close Minecraft completely so the config is not overwritten on exit.

2. Open the TalkBubbles config file in a plain text editor.

3. Find the duration/lifetime setting and change it to a larger value for longer-lasting bubbles, or a smaller value for quicker fades.

4. Save the file and relaunch the game.

5. Test with a nearby friend and watch how long the bubble stays before disappearing.

If There Is No Such Option

Some builds expose only an on/off toggle and no timing control. In that case you cannot change the duration through config, and the bubble uses a fixed internal timer. You can still influence perceived duration by sending shorter, more frequent messages so a new bubble replaces the old one. If you run a server, remember that each client reads its own config, so every player who wants a different duration must edit their own file — the server does not push timing to clients.
