Find and Bond with Your First Symbiote

Locating Fallen Asteroids

Symbiotes rest dormant inside fallen asteroid structures scattered across your world. These structures are made of dark stone and netherrack with magma blocks visible inside crater formations. Search in caves, on hillsides, or in open terrain—they're most noticeable at night due to their dark appearance.

Starting the Bond

Once you spot an asteroid, walk directly toward it and get close to the crater. The symbiote will sense your presence and the bonding process begins automatically. You'll see the alien creature emerge from inside the asteroid.

After bonding, press X to open your radial menu and view your status panel. This shows your bond strength, hunger level, trust, stress, and mood—all critical for keeping your symbiote happy.

First Steps

Your symbiote is now part of you. Press G to toggle its living armor on and off. Feed it immediately by holding raw or cooked meat and pressing B—a hungry symbiote becomes stressed and may take control of your character. Check your status menu regularly to stay ahead of its needs.
