Start by placing a cooking pot or skillet over a heat source like a firepit. Pots hold fluid for soups and boiled eggs and accept ceramic bowls or glass bottles as containers—these are returned after eating or crafting. Skillets heat ingredient stacks using the actual temperature of heat sources beneath them, consuming tool durability with each use.

For storage, build wooden cabinets matching your available wood types. Treat them with tallow buckets or beeswax to slow food spoilage significantly. Store cooked meals inside treated cabinets rather than leaving them exposed.

If using a stove, supply fuel to keep it running—it burns fuel faster during active cooking. Stoves can heat pots, vats, and oven tops when other kitchen addons are installed. Check your in-game Field Guide for specific heat requirements and recipes.
