Understand Why Logs Break Differently
The Design Philosophy
Sturdy Trees Mod adds a single, focused change: logs require multiple hits when broken by hand. This creates an intentional friction point in early-game progression without affecting any other mechanics.
What Changes and What Doesn't
Changed:
- Bare-hand log breaking now takes multiple hits (5-6 stages per log)
- Encourages earlier axe crafting
Unchanged:
- Axe performance remains identical to vanilla
- All other wood-related mechanics work normally
- Leaves, saplings, and tree farming are unaffected
- Creative mode and other game modes function as usual
The Balance Goal
Vanilla Minecraft allows you to punch a tree with your bare hand and instantly have wood. This mod makes that first step slightly harder, creating a small but real early-game challenge. The solution is straightforward: craft an axe. This encourages players to engage with the crafting system earlier and makes the first few minutes feel less trivial.
Difficulty Scope
This mod only affects hand-breaking. It's a focused, non-invasive change that respects player choice while adding meaningful early-game depth.
