Transition From Hand-Breaking to Axe Use

The Early Game Flow

Sturdy Trees Mod creates a natural progression: hand-breaking is possible but slow, motivating you to craft tools quickly.

Efficient Early Game Strategy

1. Spawn and gather initial wood: Punch a single log repeatedly until it breaks. Do this 2-3 times to collect enough logs

2. Craft planks: Open your inventory and convert logs to wooden planks

3. Craft sticks: Make sticks from planks (2 planks stacked vertically)

4. Craft a wooden axe: Arrange 3 planks and 2 sticks in the axe recipe pattern

5. Switch to axe harvesting: Use your new axe on trees for normal-speed wood collection

Time Investment

The hand-breaking phase is intentionally brief—just long enough to feel like a meaningful early challenge. Once you have an axe, wood gathering returns to vanilla speed.

Pro Tip

Break logs from fallen trees or lower branches first, as they're easier to access while you're still hand-breaking. This minimizes frustration during the transition phase.
