How to Reach the Nether Portal in the Deepslate Complex

Finding the Deepslate Complex

The Deepslate Complex connects to the Lobby Complex and contains the deepslate rooms, including the nether portal. To reach it, first locate the Lobby Complex — the heart of the stronghold — then look for the passage leading downward into deeper, darker rooms.

Step-by-Step Route

1. From the Lobby, identify the exit that descends rather than staying on the main level. The deepslate section sits lower in the stronghold.

2. As you descend, watch for the block palette shifting toward deepslate. This is your confirmation you are in the right complex.

3. Explore the deepslate rooms methodically. The nether portal is located within this complex, so sweep each room rather than rushing down a single corridor.

4. Light the area as you go. Deep, enclosed rooms are prime spawn locations, and the overhaul's larger layout means more dark corners than vanilla.

5. Once you find the nether portal, mark the route back to the Lobby with torches or blocks so you can return quickly.

Tips

• Bring a pickaxe in case you need to clear obstructions or create a shortcut.
• Note that the Staircase Complex is what links the portal chamber and lobby to the normal and surface rooms, so if you are heading up rather than down, you are likely in the staircase section instead.
