How to Navigate the Lobby Complex Without Getting Lost

Understanding the Layout

The Lobby Complex is the heart of the overhauled stronghold. It contains the portal room plus the sewer complex, staircase complex, and deepslate complex. Treat it as your central junction: almost every route you take will pass through or near it.

Practical Navigation Steps

1. On first entering the Lobby, walk the full perimeter before choosing a direction. The overhaul generates many more rooms than vanilla, so the Lobby can have several branching exits.

2. Mark each exit distinctly. Use different torch placements, colored wool, or dropped items at each doorway so you can identify which passage leads to the sewers, which to the staircases, and which to the deepslate section.

3. Follow water channels and stairwells as clues. Sewer sections typically involve water, while the staircase complex connects the portal chamber and lobby to the normal and surface rooms.

4. If you find yourself in the Deepslate Complex, you have gone toward the lower, deeper rooms — including the nether portal area — rather than back toward the surface.

5. Keep a written or mental map of which complex connects to which. Because generation is larger, backtracking is common; a consistent marking scheme saves far more time than trying to memorize turns.
